Cat. #0059711: BARTON YARBOROUGH

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Highly rare vintage inscribed blue fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch pink autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1940s. He adds "Doc Long," the name of the character he played on radio's "I Love a Mystery" (1939-1944) and in several motion pictures. Just the third example we have ever encountered, in good condition. Tragically felled by a heart attack at the age of 51, Barton Yarborough is probably best known for playing Sgt. Ben Romero, Friday's original partner, on the radio program "Dragnet" (1949-1957) and beloved television show (1951-1952). To horror buffs, he is remembered as Dr. Kettering in The Ghost of Frankenstein (1944), alongside a veritable monster movie pantheon, including Bela Lugosi, Lionel Atwill, Evelyn Ankers, Lon Chaney Jr., Cedric Hardwicke, and Ralph Bellamy.
