Cat. #000365112: EDDIE "ROCHESTER" ANDERSON

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Scarce vintage inscribed fountain pen signature as Rochester-- as was his custom-- on a 4x6-inch pale pink autograph album page, acquired in-person in 1939, the year he appeared on screen as Scarlett's coachman, Uncle Peter, in Gone with the Wind.  In good condition for its age.  Popular Black character actor Eddie Anderson gained fame for his portrayal of Rochester Van Jones, the scratchy-voiced valet on "The Jack Benny Show" radio and T.V. programs from 1937 to 1964.  He played a mixed bag of train conductors, chauffeurs, bellhops, hotel porters, and preachers in films like Show Boat (1936), You Can't Take It With You (1938), Kentucky (1938), Man About Town (1939), Buck Benny Rides Again (1940), Topper Returns (1941), Tales of Manhattan (1942), Star Spangled Rhythm (1942), Cabin the Sky (1943), Brewster's Millions (1945), The Show Off (1946), and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963).
