Cat. #0003822: ARMIDA

Uncommon vintage signature in black fountain pen on a 4x6-inch tan autograph album page, acquired in-person in the early 1930s. In fine condition for its age, with a few minor surface crinkles. Diminutive, fiery Latina singer and dancer Armida was hand-selected by John Barrymore to portray the gypsy Fidelia in General Crack (1930), after which she was signed to a five-year contract with Warner Brothers. Initially groomed as that studio's answer to Lupe Velez, the raven-haired beauty was gradually relegated to B-level adventure, romance and western flicks like The Girl from Monterrey (1943), Machine Gun Mama (1944), South of the Rio Grande (1945), and Jungle Goddess (1948).
