Cat. #000472311: SCOTTY BECKETT

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Extremely rare vintage 3.5 x 5-inch matte-finish black and white publicity portrait, signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen in the 1940s. In near very fine condition. Adorable Scotty Beckett made his film debut at the age of four, rapidly becoming one of the most popular and appealing child stars of the 1930s and 1940s. He was memorable in a string of Little Rascals comedies, as well as in films like Babes in Toyland (1934), Dante's Inferno (1935), Marie Antoinette (1938), My Son, My Son! (1940), My Favorite Wife (1940), Heaven Can Wait (1943), Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves (1944), the horror flick The Climax (1944), Junior Miss (1945), The Jolson Story (1946), and Battleground (1949), and on T.V.'s "Rocky Jones, Space Ranger" (1954). Throughout the 1950s, he was repeatedly getting into hot water, with arrests for armed robbery, drunk driving and drug possession, and his career came to a screeching halt in 1957. Nine years later, he committed suicide by an overdose of barbiturates, aged only 39, and his autograph is virtually nonexistent in any format.
