Cat. #000800: SEBASTIAN CABOT

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Quite scarce vintage 8x10-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed in white fountain pen in the late 1940s or early 1950s. In good condition, with a few minor handling dings. Rotund "gentleman's gentleman" character actor Sebastian Cabot made his debut in Foreign Affaires in 1935. He played a steady string of bit roles before shining in the more prominent role of the cunning psychopath Iago in 1946's Othello.  The following year, he relocated to the States, where he appeared in such films as Ivanhoe (1952), Kismet (1960), the sci-fi classic The Time Machine (1960), and The Family Jewels (1965). The following year, he landed the plum role of Mr. French on T.V.'s "Family Affair" (1966-1971), and concurrently, became a popular voice actor for animated films, including Disney's Winnie the Pooh series, The Sword in the Stone (1963) and The Jungle Book (1967). Cabot died tragically of a stroke at the age of 59 and his autograph is elusive in any format.
