Scarce vintage black fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch light blue card, acquired in-person by an inveterate autograph hound in the 1960s and decorated with a small Players Directory image. In good condition. After memorable work in The Ghost Breakers and Hold That Ghost (1941), stage and screen star Richard Carlson took a hiatus from acting to serve in the Second World War. Upon his return, he found solid work more difficult to come by, and found himself increasingly relegated roles in B-level horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and crime flicks. Among the memorable of these were Behind Locked Doors (1948); The Amazing Mr. X (1948); The Magnetic Monster (1953); the 3-D cult favorites The Maze (1953), It Came from Outer Space (1953) and The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954); Riders to the Stars (1954); Tormented (1960); The Power (1968); and The Valley of Gwangi (1969). He was also memorable in the Elvis Presley musical Change of Habit in 1969.
