Highly scarce vintage signature in bold pencil on a 4x6-inch pale pink autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1940s and decorated with a small newspaper image of the star. In good condition. Probably best known for his stormy failed marriages to leading ladies Lana Turner and Martine Carol, handsome leading man Stephen Crane appeared in only three films before abruptly abandoning Hollywood to enter the restaurant business-- but two of those three are considered classics of the horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery genres: In 1944, he starred as Bob Morris, opposite Nina Foch and Osa Massen, in Cry of the Werewolf and, the following year, as Gordon Carson in Crime Doctor's Revenge. The scarcity of Crane's signature is further explained by his somewhat early death of anemia at the age of 68.
