On stage from age four, electrifying Laura Hope Crews blossomed into a lovely leading lady and entered films in 1915. In her fifties and sixties, she found new work as a character actress, playing eccentric matrons in films like Camille (1936), Angel (1937), The Blue Bird (1940), and The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942). She is best remembered for her portrayal of Scarlett's dizzy Aunt Pittypat in Gone With the Wind (1939).
