Rare vintage 8x10-inch black and white publicity still as Louie on "Chico and the Man" (1974-1978), boldly signed and inscribed in red felt-tip marker for a budding director in 1980, the year the star appeared in The Shining, based upon Stephen King's novel of the same name. In good condition, with a very minor tape stain to the bottom right border. Great black character actor, singer, composer, and guitarist Scatman Crothers appeared in over 100 films and television episodes, also lending his distinctive gravely voice to an assortment of cartoon characters. His best known roles include those of Scat Cat in Disney's The Aristocats (1970), Louie the Garbage Man on T.V.'s "Chico and the Man" (1974-1978), the janitor Turkle in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), and Dick Hollorann in Stanley Kubrick's horror masterpiece The Shining (1980).
