Cat. #00403162: SOPHIE STEWART

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Uncommon vintage signature in blue ballpoint pen on a 4x6-inch pink album page, acquired in-person in 1952, following a performance of the play "Dead Secret", with a bit of paper bearing her name from the original playbill pasted beneath the autograph. Some surface crinkles; otherwise, in good condition, overall.  Lovely Scottish-born stage and screen actress Sophie Stewart enjoyed some success in period films like As You Like It (1936), Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel (1937) and Marigold (1938), Nurse Edith Cavell (1939), My Son, My Son! (1940), and Uncle Silas (1947), but was more often than not relegated to B-level horror, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, and war flicks.  Among the more memorable were Murder in the Red Barn (1935), Things to Come (1936), The Man Who Could Work Miracles (1936), Devil Girl from Mars (1954), and Battle Hell (1957).
