Cat. #005661: MINOR WATSON

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Highly scarce vintage inscribed violet fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch tan album page, acquired in-person by an autograph hound named Ethel in the 1930s. In good condition, with two surface dings below the writing and some light toning in spots. Courtly stage actor Minor Watson made his fillm debut during the silent era, eventually emerging as a staple character player in early talkie and Golden Age films.  With his friendly face and soft, Southern drawl, he was typically cast as jovial, grandfatherly physicians, shopkeepers, impresarios, military officers, and other authority figures.  His countless credits include Charlie Chan in Paris (1935), Boys Town (1938), While New York Sleeps (1938), Fast Company (1938), Of Human Hearts (1938), Television Spy (1939), the horror flick The Monster and the Girl (1941), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), Kings Row (1942), Woman of the Year (1942), The Remarkable Andrew (1942), Guadalcanal Diary (1943), The Falcon Out West (1944), Bewitched (1945), The Thin Man Comes Home (1945), A Bell for Adano (1945), Beyond the Forest (1949), The Jackie Robinson Story (1950), and Trapeze (1956).
