Extraordinary-- indeed, the earliest example we know to have ever surfaced-- 3.25 x 5.5-inch sepia-tone English postcard portrait, dating to her stage days in the 1910s, boldly signed in black fountain pen in that era. In fine condition for its age, with gentle corner wear. Although Estelle Winwood was an established stage and screen performer by her thirties, it was in her seventies that the scrawny, bird-faced character actress really hit her stride. She was unforgettable in little-old-lady parts in films like The Misfits (1961), The Cabinet of Caligari (1962), Dead Ringer (1964), Camelot (1967), The Producers (1968), and Murder by Death (1978) at the age of 95. She also popped up in a classic episode of T.V.'s "The Twilight Zone" entitled "Long Live Walter Jameson" (1960); played Enchantra on "Bewitched" (1966); and had a recurring role as Aunt Hilda on "Batman" (1966-1967).
