Rare and superb 10.75 x 13.75-inch matte-finish black and white publicity portrait, blind-stamped by Ernest Bachrach boldly signed and inscribed in purple fountain pen in the early 1930s, around the time of King Kong (1933) and Son of Kong (1933). The only oversize autographed image of the star we have ever encountered. In good condition for its age, with slightly trimmed white borders, and a small diagonal bend and surface chip at the top left-hand corner tip. Best remembered for his portrayal of disastrously arrogant director Carl Denham in King Kong (1933) and Son of Kong (1933), ever-electrified character actor Robert Armstrong is also remembered by horror, sci-fi and fantasy fans for his portrayals of Martin in the thriller The Most Dangerous Game (1932), Scoop McClure in The Mad Ghoul (1943) and Max O’Hara in Mighty Joe Young (1949).
