Highly rare 10x8-inch black and white late 1930s or early 1940s portrait in a tanning chamber from an unknown film, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen. In good condition, with a very minor tear to the the left border, well away form the writing. Best remembered for his portrayal of disastrously arrogant director Carl Denham in King Kong (1933) and Son of Kong (1933), ever-electrified character actor Robert Armstrong is also remembered by horror, sci-fi and fantasy fans for his portrayals of Martin in the thriller The Most Dangerous Game (1932), Scoop McClure in The Mad Ghoul (1943) and Max O’Hara in Mighty Joe Young (1949).
