Cat. #00041821: EDWIN AUGUST

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Extremely rare vintage 3.25 x 5.5-inch Kinetoscope Studios publicity portrait, boldly signed for inveterate collector Mabel White around 1912, just after his transition from Biograph. In good condition, with light mounting remnants on the verso. Good-looking silent movie leading man and occasional director Edwin August found new work as a character actor with the advent of talkies, popping up in supporting roles in films like Come and Get It (1936), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), The Magnificent Ambersons (1942), The Pride of the Yankees (1942), and Gentleman Jim (1942).
