Among his nearly 400 film credits, encompassing virtually every genre, were countless roles in horror, sci-fi, fantasy, crime, and mystery flicks and serials, including Dick Tracy (1937), Night Key (1937) with Boris Karloff, Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars (1938), The Phantom Creeps (1939) with Bela Lugosi, Another Thin Man (1939), Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe (1940), The Manhunt of Mystery Island (1940) as the unforgettable Captain Mephisto, Haunted Harbor (1943), The Purple Monster Strikes (1945), The Vampire's Ghost (1945), G-Men Never Forget (1948), Radar Men from the Moon (1952), Zombies of the Stratosphere (1952), Superman vs. the Gorilla Gang (1965), Destination Inner Space (1966), Billy the Kid vs. Dracula (1966), and Rosemary's Baby (1969). He also played Marty on T.V.'s "Gunsmoke" from 1959 to 1969.
