Cat. #0005123: MAURICE BLACK

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Extremely scarce vintage inscribed bold pencil signature on a 4x6-inch tan album page, acquired in-person by inveterate collector Rosanne Deerdorff Ochoa in 1935. In good condition, with a minor tear to the upper edge, not affecting the writing. Character actor J. Carrol Naish signs and inscribes in pencil on the verso. Note that the image of the star shown alongside the scan of the autograph here is not actually included. Before his early death of pneumonia at the age of 47, steely-eyed, mustached character actor Maurice Black played slick mobsters, murderous conspirators and exotic, foreign types in films like Dark Streets (1929), Abraham Lincoln (1930), Little Caesar (1931), The Front Page (1931), Smart Money (1931), Scarface (1932), While Paris Sleeps (1932), Tiger Shark (1932), Rasputin and the Empress (1932), I Cover the Waterfront (1932), Murder on the Campus (1933), Flying Down to Rio (1933) with the Marx Brothers, The Party's Over (1934), The Mighty Barnum (1934), West of the Pecos (1934), horror's The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Bonnie Scotland (1935) with Laurel and Hardy, The Last Days of Pompeii (1935), and The Life of Emile Zola (1937).
