He was also an important voice actor for both Disney and Warner Brothers, starring in nearly 160 cartoon classics, including Dumbo (1941). Throughout Hollywood's Golden Age, he was a trusty character actor, with memorable roles in countless westerns and the horror, sci-fi and fantasy films Babes in Toyland (1934), The Lost City (1935), The Wizard of Oz (1939), The Ape (1940), Robot Wrecks (1941), and I Married a Witch (1942).
