Curvaceous, unconventionally beautiful film and stage star Joan Blondell played brassy, warm-hearted types in films like The Public Enemy (1931), Golddiggers of 1933 (1933), Footlight Parade (1933), Topper Returns (1941), Lady for a Night (1942), A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945), Nightmare Alley (1947), and The Cincinatti Kid (1965). She also had a memorable character role in Grease in 1978.
