Cat. #0005255: JOE BONOMO

Uncommon vintage inscribed ballpoint pen signature on an 8.5 X 11-inch red sheet, dated 1977, with the writing cropped in the scan provided here and very clear on the actual piece, unlike what might be suggested by our photograph. In good condition. Strongman, actor and stuntman Joe Bonomo played henchmen, goons, circus performers, troglodytes, gangsters, and gorillas in horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and crime flicks like The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923), The Iron Man (1924), The Great Circus Mystery (1925), The Sea Tiger (1927), The King of Kings (1927), Vamping Venus (1928), The King of the Kongo (1929), and Island of Lost Souls (1932). In the Bela Lugosi classic Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932), Charles Gemora played the murderous gorilla in most scenes-- but it was Bonomo who donned the ape suit for the thrilling rooftop sequence!
