Cat. #0006111212: MARY BRIAN

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Scarce and stylish 8x10-inch black and white publicity portrait in her prime, boldly signed and inscribed in black felt-tip pen in the 1980s. In fine condition, with three small nicks along the right edge, due to storage in a three-ring binder, and a few negligible handling dings, invisible when the photo is viewed head-on. Mary Brian, much-loved leading lady of the silent and early talkie screens, was dubbed "the sweetest girl in pictures", but wasn't so sweat about giving autographs. She was memorable as Wendy Darling in the fantasy classic Peter Pan (1924), Isabel Rivers in Beau Geste (1926), Peggy Grant in The Front Page (1931), W.C. Fields' faithful daughter in The Man on the Flying Trapeze (1935), Yvette Lamartine in Charlie Chan in Paris (1935), a heartbreaking femme fatale in the 1936 Henry Fonda vehicle Spendthrift (1936), Frances Clayton in The Amazing Adventure (1936), and Anne Hogan in Dragnet (1947).
