Cat. #00061241: CLIVE BROOK

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Vintage fountain pen signature on a 4x5-inch tan autograph album page, acquired in-person in 1934 and decorated with a magazine image.  In good condition, with a hint of show-through from a Jack La Rue signature on the verso.  Stolid British leading man Clive Brook was memorable in Underworld (1927), Shanghai Express (1932) and Calvacade (1933), but is probably best remembered as the first actor to portray Sherlock Holmes in a sound film.  In 1944, he directed and starred in On Approval, in which he immortalized the wacky genius of comedic actress Beatrice Lillie.
