Stately English character actor Anthony Bushell played military men, ship captains, detectives, and other authority figures in classic films of the late 1920s through 1960s, including Disraeli (1929), Journey's End (1930), Five Star Final (1931), Vanity Fair (1932), the Boris Karloff horror flick The Ghoul (1933), Lilies of the Field (1934), The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934), Dark Journey (1937), The Barbarian and the Lady (1938), The Black Knight (1954), Pursuit of the Graf Spee (1956), and A Night to Remember (1958). In 1961, he also directed the cult B-movie The Terror of the Tongs.
