Terrific vintage 1986 first day cover (FDC) honoring fellow composer and musiciain Duke Ellington, upon which the master of rhyme and wordplay has typed "For the Duke of 'E' from Sammy 'C'" and added his autograph in black felt-tip pen, with the date of 1990. In good condition. Legendary Broadway and film composer and lyricist Sammy Cahn famously collaborated with Jimmy Van Heusen and Jule Styne. He was nominated for 26 Academy Awards, more than any other songwriter in history, taking home trophies four times.  For his remarkable body of work, which included now standard tunes like"Three Coins in the Fountain", "Love and Marriage", "It's Been a Long, Long Time", "Saturday Night Is the Loneliest Night of the Week", "High Hopes", "All the Way" "It's Magic", "Be My Love","The Tender Trap", "Time After Time", "Until the Real Thing Comes Along", and "Let It Snow!  Let It Snow!  Let It Snow!", he was inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972.
