Cat. #001121312: JOSEPH CREHAN

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Highly scarce vintage pencil signature on a 4x6-inch pale green autograph album page, acquired in-person at Paramount Studios in July of 1938.  In good condition.  Note that the image of the star shown alongside the scan of the signature here is not actually included with the item.  Stocky, dominating, loud-mouthed character actor Joseph Crehan played hotheaded police chiefs, army officers, attorneys, judges, and other authority figures-- including Ulysses S. Grant a whopping nine times!  His over 300 film credits spanning the silent and early talkie film eras include the Marx Brothers' Duck Soup (1933), It Happened One Night (1934), Black Fury (1935), Kid Galahad (1937), Alexander's Ragtime Band (1938), The Roaring Twenties (1939), The Return of Dr. X (1939), Phantom Lady (1944), The Adventures of Mark Twain (1944), Charlie Chan in Black Magic (1944), Brewster's Millions (1945), Dick Tracy (1945), The Thin Man Goes Home (1945), Behind the Mask (1946), The Big Sleep (1946), Dick Tracy vs. Cueball (1946), Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome (1947), and Street Corner (1948).
