Cat. #001142: DONALD CURTIS

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Rare vintage violet ballpoint pen signature on a 3x5-inch white card, acquired in-person in the late 1950s or early 1960s, and decorated with a book image.  In good condition.  In private life, tall, rugged Donald Curtis held a doctorate in world religions, publishing seminal books on the subject, and spending long stretches with Indian Hindu yogis and Tibetan Buddhist monks.  Onscreen, he was the inversion of a spiritual academic, playing tough-talking detectives and military men, menacing guards, and murderous henchmen in Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe (1940), Junior G-Men (1940), The Son of Davy Crockett (1941), Invisible Agent (1941), The Cross of Lorraine (1943), Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1943), Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), National Velvet (1944), Spellbound (1945), The Amazing Mr. X (1948), the sci-fi classics It Came from Beneath the Sea (1955) and Earth versus the Flying Saucers (1956), and The Ten Commandments (1956).
