Highly scarce vintage 5x7-inch matte-finish black and white portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen in 1933. In near-fine condition, with pinholes at all four corners and at the top center; small bends to the bottom corner tips; and small handling bends in the background, all detracting slightly from overall appearance. Pint-sized juvenile actor and master stuntman Frankie Darro had a small role in the John Barrymore horror classic The Mad Genius (1931), playing Fedor Ivanoff as a boy, and in 1935, starred in the Gene Autry sci-fi flick The Phantom Empire. Later in life, Darro appeared as Robby the Robot in the space-age classic Forbidden Planet (1956), with his voice dubbed over by Marvin Miller. We haven't seen an example of his signature in years!
