Highly rare vintage pencil signature on a roughly 3x3-inch portion of a tan album page, acquired in-person in the early 1950s, when she was playing Oriole on T.V.'s "Beulah" (1952). In fine condition for its age, with irregular trimming and a light stain to the lower area, mostly confined to below the writing. Note that the image of the star shown here alongside the scan of the autograph is not included. The mother of actress Dorothy Dandridge, great black character actress Ruby Dandridge began her film career playing a native dancer in King Kong (1933). She went on to play maids, nannies, mothers, and cooks in films like Cabin the Sky (1943), I Dood It (1943), The Big Clock (1945), Junior Miss (1945), Dead Reckoning (1947), and A Hole in the Head (1959). She also had numerous roles on "The Amos 'n' Andy Show" (1951-1955).
