Rare vintage black fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch tan autograph album page, acquired in-person in 1944, following an appearance in the Dodie Smith stage play "Lovers and Friends." Slightly uneven trimming to the edges; otherwise, in good condition for its age. English stage and screen actor Henry Daniell's haughty demeanor and Satanic visage made him the ideal suave, well-bred villain in scores of films of the 1930s through 1950s. He is remembered by horror and science-fiction fans for his portrayals of John Wales in The Thirteenth Chair (1937), Dr. MacFarlane in the Boris Karloff favorite The Body Snatcher (1945), Morgana in From the Earth to the Moon (1958), Dr. Zurich in The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake (1959), and Dr. Zucco in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961). Daniell is also revered among Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts for his portrayal of criminal mastermind Professor Moriarty in Universal’s film series, opposite Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.
