Cat. #0011658: HOWARD DA SILVA

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Vintage inscribed fountain pen signature on a 3.25 x 5-inch pale yellow autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1940s.  In good condition, with probable trimming from a larger size and a faint surface crease which is nearly impossible to detect.  Nice for matting.  Before having his career decimated by the McCarthy Commission, character actor Howard Da Silva was played tough-talking hotheads in films like Marie Antoinette (1938), Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940), The Sea Wolf (1941), Sergeant York (1941), The Lost Weekend (1945), The Blue Dahlia (1946), They Live by Night (1948), The Great Gatsby (1949), and, later in life, the cult favorite Mommie Dearest (1981).
