Highly rare vintage black fountain pen signature on a 3.25 x 3.5-inch beige autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1950s. In good condition and nice for matting with a favorite photograph. Iconic French army officer and statesman Charles de Gaulle led Free France against Nazi Germany in World War II and chaired the Provisional Government of the French Republic from 1944-1946 in order to restore democracy in France. In 1958, he was appointed President of the Council of Ministers by President Rene Coty, rewriting the French Constitution and founding the Fifth Republic. He was subsequently elected President of France twice, serving through 1969.
