Highly scarce vintage glossy 8x10-inch black and white 1920s studio portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in white ink in 1985. In very fine condition. Silent screen leading lady Carol Dempster seemingly bewitched director D. W. Griffith, who cast her in over half a dozen major films during the 1920s, to little critical or popular acclaim. After abandoning the screen in 1926, she retired into private life, rarely granting interviews or evincing interest in her former acting career.
