Considered one of the great character actors in British cinema history, Sir Maurice Denham's extensive career included memorable roles in Take My Life (1947), Blanche Fury (1948), Oliver Twist (1948), The Blind Goddess (1948), Madness of the Heart (1949), The Spider and the Fly (1949), Animal Farm (1954), horror's Night of the Demon (1954), Our Man in Havana (1959), Sink the Bismarck! (1960), Paranoiac (1960), The Alphabet Murders (1965), and Torture Garden (1967). He was also noteworthy, opposite Jeremy Brett, in a classic episode of the Grenada Television Sherlock Holmes series entitled "The Last Vampyre" (1989).
