Highly rare vintage pencil signature-- unusual, in that he did not sign only "J. Dierkes," as was his custom-- on a 4x6-inch light blue album page, acquired in-person in the 1940s. In good condition and suitable for matting.  Note that the images of the star shown here alongside the scan of the autograph are not included. Tall, gaunt, menacing character actor John Dierkes-- who screen-tested for the role of Lurch on T.V.'s "The Addams Family" (1964-1966)-- played villains in loads of films and television programs, frequently cast by western director John Houston. He was noteworthy in Orson Welles' Mabeth (1948), The Thing from Another World (1951), The Red Badge of Courage (1951), Les Miserables (1952), The Vanquished (1953), Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1953), Prince Valiant (1954), The Desperado (1954), Hell's Outpost (1954), The Vanishing American (1955), The Fastest Gun Alive (1956), The Guns of Fort Petticoat (1957), Daughter of Dr. Jekyll (1957), Death in Small Doses (1957), Touch of Evil (1958), The Hanging Tree (1959), The Comancheros (1961), The Man with the X-Ray Eyes (1963), The Haunted Palace (1963), Johnny Cool (1963), The Omeha Man (1971), and loads of episodes of "Gunsmoke" (1956-1973).
