Highly scarce vintage inscribed blue fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch off-white card, acquired in-person by inveterate autograph hound John Virzi and decorated with a small magazine image. In good condition and suitable for matting with a favorite photograph. Gaunt, unforgettable character actor Ludwig Donath was a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in Vienna in his native Austria. Following a distinguished stage career, he fled to the United States after the advent of the Third Reich and, from 1942 onward, played an assortment of evil Nazis, including Hitler himself. Donath was briefly blacklisted in the 1950s for alleged left-wing connections, but resumed steady television work in 1957 for the remaining ten years of his life. The latter included a memorable role on "The Twilight Zone" in 1963.
