Cat. #00133: R. LEE ERMEY

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Uncommon inscribed blue fine-tip pen signature, adding Semper Fi, on a 3x5-inch white card, acquired in-person by an inveterate Los Angeles-based autograph hound at Rancho Park in May of 2005. In good condition, with a stray ink mark to the upper edge. No-nonsense R. Lee Ermey rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant during his 11 years with the U.S. Marine Corps and was later bestowed the honorary rank of Gunnery Sergeant after his gallant service in Vietnam and Japan. After an injury put an end to military career, he found new work playing hotheaded officers and servicemen in Sidney J. Furie films like The Boys in Company C (1978) and Purple Hearts (1984), and Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now (1979). In 1987, Ermey was hand-selected by Stanley Kubrick to portray Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Full Metal Jacket, turning out an explosive performance which earned him a Golden Globe nomination and popular acclaim bordering on cult status. He has since then proved a reliable character actor, playing cut-the-crap authority figures and chilling psychopaths in Leaving Las Vegas (1995), Se7en (1995), Dead Man Walking (1995), the horror flick The Frighteners (1996), Saving Silverman (2001), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006), and Disney's animated Toy Story series (1995, 1999, 2010), among other films.
