Cat. #0013421122: GENE EVANS

Scarce vintage red fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch tan autograph album page, acquired in-person in the late 1940s. In good condition, with light show-through from an image affixed to the opposite side, along a red fountain pen signature of actress Marjorie Woodworth. Tough, gruff actor Gene Evans played strong, weathered men in westerns and war films, showing real talent in the role of Sergeant Zack in Samuel Fuller's 1951 Korean War drama The Steel Helmet. Both Fuller and Evans had been soldiers, and, appropriately, the film is infused with meditations on war and survival. Forming a strong working relationship, the two made several films together, including Shock Corridor in 1963. He also appeared in a great deal of television from the 1960s onward.
