Cat. #0013513112: FRITZ FELD

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Original vintage 8x10-inch black and white 1937 portrait publicity portrait, signed and inscribed in red felt-tip pen in his later years. In good condition, with a minor tear to the right border, intruding a pinch into the image itself. Goofy German-born character actor Fritz Feld played essentially the same character in nearly all his films; namely, a mustached baron, maitre d', hotel clerk or aristocrat who displayed superior annoyance at assorted Philistines by slapping his mouth with the palm of his hand to make a popping sound. Highlights of his long film career include horror's The Golem (1920), True Confession (1937), Bringing Up Baby (1938), The Affairs of Annabel (1938), At the Circus (1939), Ma! He's Making Eyes at Me! (1940), You Belong to Me (1941), Four Jacks and a Jill (1941), Phantom of the Opera (1943), The Catman of Paris (1946), The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947), If You Knew Susie (1948), Pocketful of Miracles (1961), Hello, Dolly! (1969), Herbie Rides Again (1974), The Sunshine Boys (1975), Freaky Friday (1976), and Mel Brooks' Silent Movie (1976) and History of the World: Part I (1981).
