Extremely rare vintage 8x10-inch black and white matte-finish portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen in the 1930s. In good condition for its age, with a few negligible border flaws. Comic Black character actor Stepin Fetchit portrayed scores of lazy, inarticulate valets, train conductors, porters, and other servant types, drawing criticism in later years for possibly promoting negative stereotypes of African-Americans. His many memorable film credits include In Old Kentucky (1927), Show Boat (1929), The Galloping Ghost (1931), Stand Up and Cheer! (1934), Charlie Chan in Egypt (1935), Dimples (1936), Big Timers (1945), Bend of the River (1952), and The Sun Shines Bright (1953). Signed photos of the star from his movie heyday are almost impossible to find!
