Cat. #001362111: FLORA FINCH

Exceptionally rare vintage inscribed red fountain pen signature on a 4x6-nich olive green autograph album page, acquired in-person by inveterate collector Rae Sargent at California's Shrine Theater in the 1930s and decorated with two magazine images. In good condition, with a faint horizontal fold down the center. Delightful British stage actress Flora Finch entered Hollywood films in 1909, paired by Vitagraph with porcine comedian John Bunny in a series of extremely popular domestic farces, dubbed "Bunnyfinches." When her partner suddenly died in 1915, her career came to a screeching halt. She set up her own production company to produce short comedies, but they weren't very popular with audiences, and, by the 1920s, she was playing supporting roles in various feature films to make ends meet. These included Mrs. Rackham in Benjamin Christensen's The Haunted House (1928), Aunt Susan in Paul Leni's horror classic The Cat and the Canary (1927) and the miner's wife in the Laurel and Hardy comedy Way Out East (1937).
