Dublin-born leading lady Geraldine Fitzgerald was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Isabella Linton in Wuthering Heights (1939), and was also memorable in The Mill of the Floss (1937), Dark Victory (1939), 'Til We Meet Again (1940), The Shining Victory (1941), The Gay Sisters (1942), and Watch on the Rhine (1943). After a long spell on television, she returned to the screen as a character actress, noteworthy in Ten North Frederick (1958); The Pawnbroker (1964); Rachel, Rachel (1968); Harry and Tonto (1974); Arthur (1981); and Easy Money (1983), as Rodney Dangerfield's venom-spewing mother-in-law. Fitzgerald also appeared in a handful of horror flicks, including Blood Link (1982) and Poltergeist II (1986).
