Highly rare vintage black and white photograph, measuring about 4x5-inches, boldly signed in black fountain pen in the 1930s. Just the second signed photo of the star we have ever encountered, priced to reflect heavy creasing affecting the area of his face. Busy Irish character actor played Rudy the gravedigger in James Whale's horror classic Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and his signature is one of the most elusive of the film's cast members. Note that the reference image of the actor alongside Dwight Frye in that film shown here, alongside the autographed piece, is not included. Fitzgerald was also a frequent player in Charlie Chan, Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Moto mystery films of the 1930s and 1940s.
