Quite rare vintage 4 x 4.25-inch black and white publicity portrait, boldly signed with his name alone in black fountain pen in the late 1930s. In fairly good condition for its age, with numerous surface creases and crackles, some of which pass through the area of his face. Priced accordingly-- but just the second signed image of the actor we have ever seen. Familiar-faced Irish character actor played Rudy in James Whale's horror classic Bride of Frankenstein (1935), and his signature is one of the most elusive of the film's cast members. He was also a frequent player in Charlie Chan, Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Moto mystery films of the 1930s and 1940s.
