Cat. #001372: PAUL FIX

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Extremely rare 8x10-inch black and white portrait from an unknown period film-- the earliest we have ever encountered-- boldly signed in black fountain pen in the early 1930s. Light diagonal creases to all four corners, some passing through the image itself, and a 1.5-inch tear, grazing the signature, which is repaired on the verso with tape. Priced accordingly, but still a very special item. Best remembered for his portrayal of Marshal Micah Torrance on T.V.'s "The Rifleman" (1958-1963), character actor Paul Fix appeared in nearly 350 films and television episodes from the silent era through his death in 1983, memorable as a mixed bag of no-good hoods and authority figures in Scarface (1932), The Sphinx (1933), The Mad Game (1934), The Prisoner of Shark Island (1936), Charlie Chan at the Race Track (1936), Phantom Patrol (1936), After the Thin Man (1936), Winterset (1936), The Buccaneer (1938), Mr. Moto's Gamble (1938), King of Alcatraz (1938), horror's Dr. Cyclops (1940) and Black Friday (1940) with Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi, The Ghost Breakers (1940), Hold That Ghost (1941), Hitler-- Dead or Alive (1942), Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon (1942), Captive Wild Woman (1943), Angel and the Badman (1947), Force of Evil (1948), Wake of the Red Witch (1948), She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949), Hondo (1953), Johnny Guitar (1954), The Bad Seed (1956), Giant (1956), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), El Dorado (1966), and Zabriskie Point (1966).
