Cat. #001407: DOUGLAS V. FOWLEY

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Scarce 8x10-inch black and white portrait in his prime, looking tough, as usual, boldly signed in black fine-tip pen in the 1980s. In good condition, with one very minor handling ding and the image a touch grainy. With his slick-as-ice air and foreboding facial features, character actor Douglas Fowley was the ideal gangster or henchman in a long string of Charlie Chan, Mr. Moto, Laurel and Hardy, and cowboy "B"s churned out by 20th Century-Fox in the late 1930s and early 1940s.  He went on to more diverse supporting roles, including those of Jones in Mighty Joe Young (1949), the neurotic movie director in Singin' in the Rain (1952) and Walter "Walt" Walters in Cat-Women of the Moon (1953).
