Previously sold at RR Auction: Extremely rare vintage matte-finish 10.5 x 13.25-inch studio portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen in the 1930s: "To Johnny—Who has been my best friend, severest critic, and father confessor—with a very great deal of love from his, Sidney.” The reverse bears a pair of Universal Pictures stamps. In fine condition, with slightly trimmed borders and some minor edgewear. Lovely Sidney Fox, who so memorably portrayed Mlle. Camille L'Espanaye in the Bela Lugosi horror classic Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932), died tragically of an accidental overdose of sleeping pills at the age of 35. Her autograph is highly elusive in any format.
