Scarce and one-of-a-kind vintage Kodachrome snapshot in costume as poet Walt Whitman, whom he often portrayed on stage, annotated in his hand, and signed in blue ballpoint pen on the verso.  In good condition, with some flecks of soiling surrounding the autograph.  Highlights of character actor Will Geer's six-decade career included Mystery of Edwin Drood (1935), Johnny Allegro (1949), Anna Lucasta (1949), Bright Victory (1951), and In Cold Blood (1967).  In 1972, the septuagenarian landed the role for which he is probably best remembered, that of Grandpa Zeb on T.V.'s "The Waltons" (1972-1978).
