Cat. #001423113222: CONNIE GILCHRIST

Quite uncommon vintage black fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch pink card, acquired in-person by inveterate collector John Virzi in the 1960s and decorated with a small magazine image. In good condition. Plump, moon-faced character actress Connie Gilchrist played devoted, sometimes cranky mothers, aunts and wives; society types; maids; nurses; and managers, always speaking in her distinctive Brooklyn accent, even in westerns and period films! Her long list of memorable movie credits includes Hullabaloo (1940), The Wild Man of Borneo (1941), Barnacle Bill (1941), Johnny Eager (1941), Grand Central Murder (1941), Cry 'Havoc' (1943), Nothing But Trouble (1944), The Valley of Decision (1945), Junior Miss (1945), The Thin Man Goes Home (1945), Song of the Thin Man (1947), A Letter to Three Wives (1949), Flesh and Fury (1952), Long John Silver (1954), The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit (1956), Auntie Mame (1958), Some Came Running (1959), and Two on a Guillotine (1965). She also appeared on T.V.'s "The Twilight Zone" in 1963, in the classic episode entitled "In Praise of Pip."
