Cat. #0014231134: CLAUDE GILLINGWATER

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Highly rare black fountain pen signature on an 8.5 x 11-inch tan agreement with Madison Pictures to appear in a silent film called A Stolen Life (1924) which was later released under some other title, which is presently unknown. In fine condition for its age, with some gentle toning and creasing throughout. Note that the image accompanying the autograph here is not actually included with the item. Silent and early talkie character actor Claude Gillingwater was the quintessential grouchy old man, capable of being cheered only by Shirley Temple in films like Poor Little Rich Girl (1936), Just Around the Corner (1938) and Little Miss Broadway (1938).  He was elsewhere delightfully carmudgeonly in Little Lord Fauntleroy (1921), Stark Mad (1929), Before Midnight (1933), Green Eyes (1934), A Tale of Two Cities (1935), Mississippi (1935), and The Prisoner of Shark Island (1936).
