Cat. #001423121111: VAUGHAN GLASER

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Exceedingly rare irregularly trimmed vintage 5.5 x 9-inch black and white image, clipped from a movie magazine, boldly signed in black fountain pen for inveterate collector Mabel White in 1912 and affixed to a slightly larger portion of a black scrapbook page. In good condition for its age, with one one minute fleck of soiling and a tiny bit of ink bleeding into the fiber of the paper. After decades as a dashing leading man of the stage, Vaughan Glaser embarked upon a second career as a movie character actor, playing professors, judges, clergymen, colonels, politicians, physicians, and other persons of authority in films like Meet John Doe (1941), Saboteur (1942), I Married an Angel (1942), The Pride of the Yankees (1942), Shadow of a Doubt (1943), and Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), as well as in the Henry Aldrich series of the 1940s. This is just the third example of his autograph we have encountered in 30 years.
