Cat. #0014231432: THOMAS GOMEZ

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Rare and superb vintage original 8x10-inch black and white costume portrait as the philosophical Pancho in Ride the Pink Horse (1947), his Oscar-nominated performance, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen. In good condition, with a few negligible handling dings. Enormous, baleful, raspy-voiced character actor Thomas Gomez played a mixed bag of merciless heavies and rascally sidekicks in films like Sherlock Holmes and the Voice of Terror (1942); Arabian Nights (1942); White Savage (1943); Phantom Lady (1944); horror's The Climax (1944) and Dead Man's Eyes (1944); Ride the Pink Horse (1947), for which he was Oscar-nominated; Key Largo (1948); Force of Evil (1948); Come to the Stable (1949); Trapeze (1956); and Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970).  He was also memorable as the courtly devil on the classic "Twilight Zone" episode entitled "Escape Clause" (1959).  Gomez died of a heart attack at the age of 65 and his autograph is rather elusive in any format.
