Highly uncommon vintage 5.5 x 6.5-inch sepia-tone three-quarter portrait, dating to circa 1919, boldly signed in black fountain pen:  "To / Mr. Hoagland / with the best wishes / Raymond Hitchcock".  The noted stage actor and "Hitchy Koo" producer appeared in a number of silent comedy shorts and features, including several with Flora Zabelle by unknown directors; Mack Sennett's My Valet (1915) and Stolen Magic (1915), both opposite Mabel Normand; George Terwilliger's The Ringtailed Rhinoceros (1915); Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle's A Village Scandal (1915); Edward Dillon's The Beauty Shop (1922); and Allen Dale's Redheads Preferred (1926) and The Tired Business Man (1927).  Hitchcock also starred in John Ford's Upstream (1927), Raoul Walsh's The Monkey Talks (1927) and Robert Florey's A Pusher-in-the-Face (1929).
